План урока


Цели урока:

1. Составление монологического высказывания по плану.

2. Воспитание чувства патриотизма, гордости за свою страну.

3. Расширение кругозора учащихся.


Задачи урока:

1. Формировать навыки устной речи, аргументируя свои высказывания.

2. Развивать навыки ассоциативного мышления.

3. Совершенствовать навыки ознакомительного и поискового чтения.

4. Расширить словарный запас по теме.

Тип урока: комбинированный.


Технологии. Использованы элементы технологии критического мышления (мозговой штурм в начале урока), технологии развивающего обучения (анализ, выделение лишнего, объяснение, приведение аргументов, синтез), проблемного обучения (название флагов – какой страны, почему), здоровьесберегающей технологии (физкультминутка — песня, чередование разных форм работы), информационно-коммуникативной технологии (слайды, раздаточный материал, песня). Используются различные источники информации.

Этапы и примерное содержание урока.

1. Оргмомент (Время — 1 мин)

Учитель: Stand up! Stand straight! Good morning! Sit down!

Учащиеся: Morning!


2. Определение темы урока (мозговой штурм) (Время — 2 мин)

Учитель: Look at the slide (Slide2) and say what we are going to speak about.

Учащиеся: Why do you think so?

Учащиеся: We are going to speak about English-Speaking countries.

There we can see the flags of English-Speaking countries.

Учитель: What are they?

Учащиеся:They are the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.


3. Составление Монологического высказывания.

а) Беседа об англо-говорящих странах. (Время — 3-5 мин)

(Какие это страны? Почему вы так думаете?)

Учитель: Now look at the screen and say what country it is. Why do you think so? (Slides 3-5)

Учащиеся: 1) I think it’s Australia because kangaroos live in this country.

It’s the smallest continent and the biggest island. We can see an emu and a koala, these exotic animals live in Australia. I can see Sydney in the picture.

Учитель: You are right. But why is it Sydney? In the picture you can see a famous Opera House.

Учащиеся: 2) In my opinion it’s New Zealand because …

3) I guess it’s Canada because …


б) Создание мини-проекта. (Время — 10-12 мин) Работа по группам (3 группы – 3 страны): составление монологического высказывания по картинкам и отдельным словам, при этом, некоторые картинки или слова не соответствуют данной стране, объяснить, почему. Рассказ о стране по плану.

Учитель: Now you are working in groups with pictures and some words. What country are the pictures and words about? Tell us about the country according to the plan. (Appendix 1)

Be very attentive: some of the words and pictures are the odd ones, they are not about your country. Find them and say why you think so.

Учащиеся: *P1/*Gr1. We think it’s Canada. The capital of Canada is Ottawa. It is situated in North America. Canada is the second largest country in the world. It shares with the USA five of the largest lakes and three of the longest rivers in the world. The official languages are English and French. The emblem of the country is a leaf of a maple tree which grows there. You can see the maple leaf on the flag of Canada. I would like to visit the country because Canada is the motherland of hockey which is my favourite game.

This picture is the odd one because a kiwi is an emblem of New Zealand. These words are the odd ones because the USA has the third largest population in the world.

P2/Gr2. We think it’s Australia …

д) Чтение с извлечением информации (отвечают участники 4й группы (3 уч-ся), они работали с текстом из приложения 3 (Appendix 3), пока 1-3 группы составляли рассказ о странах). (Время — 3 мин)

Учитель: The flag of the country is its official emblem, isn’t it? So let’ speak about some flags. What is the name of the flag of the UK? (Slide 6) (Appendix 3)

Учащийся: P1.The Flag of the UK is called the Union Jack. It appeared in 1603 when King James I united England and Scotland. And then in 1801 Ireland was added. It’s a mixture of the flags of three countries: England, Scotland and Ireland.

Учитель: Read the names of these flags. What countries are they the flags of? Why do you think so? (Slide 7)

Учащиеся: The Stars and Stripes is an American flag there are stars and stripes on it. The Imperial Flag is for Russia because Russia was an Empire in the past.

Учитель: Why are the flags called so?

Учитель: Let’s listen to the song and relax. You can stand up, move and sing. (Jingle Bells)

Учитель: Answer the questions, please. When do Englishmen sing this song? What songs do Russian people sing on New Year’s Day?


5. Беседа о России. Введение нового материала. (Время — 5 мин)

Учитель: Look at the pictures on the screen and say what country we are going to speak about. Why do you think so? (Slide 8)

Учащиеся: We are going to speak about Russia. I can see the flag of the Russian Federation. Russia is famous for its churches, e.g. churches in Kizhi. Moscow is the capital of Russia.

Учитель: Look at the pictures and the words on the blackboard, look at the plan. Say what you know about our country.

Учитель: You know some geographical names with the article the and without the article, some countries, cities, languages. Check yourselves how well you know them. Do the task. (Appendix 5)

Appendix 2 Listening

Guess the country.

1. This country lies in the Atlantic Ocean. It is an island state. It is twice smaller than France or Spain. The capital of the country is the seventh biggest city in the world. There you can study at one of the oldest universities in the world: Oxford or Cambridge. What country is it? Why do you think so?

2. This country streches from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west, from Canada in the north to Mexico in the south. The official language of the country is English. Spanish is the second language there. The country is famous for Coca-Cola, Microsoft, McDonalds. What country is it? Why do you think so?



Appendix 3 Reading

THE STARS AND STRIPES

The American flag is known as THE STARS AND STRIPES. It consists of fifty stars which represent the fifty states. Thirteen red and white horizontal stripes (seven red and six white) stand for the original thirteen States that were united in 1776.

The first flag was called The Grand Union Flag. It combined the flag of Great Britain with the thirteen stripes.

The Union Jack

This is the popular name given to the flag of Great Britain. Actually it is called the Union Flag and it is a mixture of several flags.

It all began in 1606 when Scotland was joined to England and Wales. The Scottish flag, St Andrew’s Cross, blue with a white cross from corner to corner, was joined to the English Flag, St George’s Cross, white with a red cross. You can see the flag of St George on churches in England.

Later, in 1801, when Ireland was joined to the Union, as it was called, the Irish Flag of St Patrick’s cross was added, white with a red cross from corner to corner.

The Union Jack is also on the flags of Australia and New Zealand.

The Imperial Flag

The Russian flag is sometimes called the Imperial Flag. It consists of three equal stripes of white, blue and red. The first flag of this design appeared more than 300 years ago. Peter the Great adapted the flag from the National flag of the Netherlands. Later a black two-headed eagle on a golden background was added to the flag of Russia.


Appendix 4 Russia (примерный ответ)

I live in Russia. Moscow is the capital of my country. Russia is the largest country in the world. It lies both in Europe and Asia. My country is rich in rivers: the Volga, the Lena, the Neva, lakes, for example, Lake Baikal, mountains: the Caucasus, the Altai, the Urals. As for me I live in the Urals which is a natural border between Europe and Asia. As far as I know there are more than 200 languages in Russia but the official language of my country is Russian. There are many big cities in the country, for example, St Petersburg, Vladivostok, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk and many others. My town Yuzhnouralsk is situated in Chelyabinsk Region. The two-headed eagle, a bear, a birch tree, a balalaika, a matryoshka are the emblems of Russia. Russia is also rich in famous writers, for example, Pushkin, Lermontov, Tolstoy, Chekhov, artists: Repin, Shishkin, Perov, Surikov, Vasnetsov, composers such as: Chaikovsky, Musorgsky, Rahmaninov, Glinka, scientists: Sakharov, Korolev, Tsiolkovsky, Mendeleev, Popov and others. I am proud of my country.
